PlayStation Family

Family controls for PlayStation

PlayStation Family is a parental-control app for families using PS4 or PS5. It lets parents review a child’s recent gaming activity, set playtime limits, manage age-based content access, and adjust social and spending permissions from a phone.

What you can manage

• Review games played, online status, current activity, and playtime from the past week.
• Set daily playtime schedules around homework, meals, bedtime, or other routines.
• Approve or decline requests for additional playtime as they arrive.
• Control access to games and other content using age-based recommendations.
• Choose how your child can use social features and interact with other players.
• Set a monthly spending limit, check the family wallet balance, and add funds for PlayStation Store purchases.

Who it suits

This is intended for parents and guardians who want a direct way to supervise a child’s PlayStation use without changing settings on the console each time. Setup includes creating a child account and applying controls that can be adjusted as family rules change. Some functions depend on whether the child uses a PS4 or PS5.
